Hi

Dell is offering a OPtiplex GX280 desktop with a P4 520 (HT enabled) processor with a 1MB L2 cache &800 MHz FSB. However, I find that the chipset offerred is the Intel 915GM chipset.

I looked up the Intel website & find that the chipset supports only 533 or 400 Mhz FSB - never 800!! The 533 MHz FSB is only when the processor L2 cache is 2MB. 400 FSB is if the L2 is lower than 2MB.

Therefore, please tell me with the 520 processor (1MB L2) what will the damn system FSB be - 400 , 533 or 800 FSB? Will the processor performance at 400 FSB be lower than 800 FSB??

Please tell me someone! Need to decide quickly since this is a promotional offer from Dell at a good price. But I dont want to buy something thats very slow.

Regards

Look, dont buy dell, look around here and see how people like them.

Check resellerratings.com ? as well

Dell are hell, you can either build your own PC much cheaper or get a PC built for you for a fraction of the price.

The 915GM is a notebook chipset. That shouldn't be in a desktop :amazed:

If it is just the 915G, then yes, it is 800fsb.
