I just bought a Balance LCD monitor. Mine is a 19", but I am trilled with it, the price, and the performance.

Here's a link to the 17" version.
http://tinyurl.com/7h7wh

* Large 17-inch LCD screen
* 450:1 contrast ratio
* 1280 x 1024 resolution
* .264mm pixel pitch
* 16.2m display colors
* 15ms response time
* 55-75Hz frequency
* 40-watt max power consumption
* Slim design fits on even the most crowded desktops
* Weighs 8 lbs
* $199.27

I would say NEC is quite good, but Viewsonic are good also (their LCD, their CRT are horrible) and as usual Sony is good quality.
