Default what's the difference in DDR2?

hey, I was just wondering about DDR2 ram.
what's the difference between ddr2 ram and simple ddr ram eh?
cuz I OCed it and since its somewhat different (to deserve the additional 2 ) I would like to know what sets apart?
same for some ddr3 ram used on graphics cards.

DDR2 Ram is just a marketing ploy really, but it could be the future. Has more pins, requires less voltage, but DDR ram still holds the memory record for fastest memory
