Its the core that is used and the amount of L2 cache that determines the difference. The 2.0GHz will have less L2 cache than the 1.8. The 1.8 makes up for the clock speed difference by having more L2 cache.

thing is i had an amd athlon xp 2200 at 1.8 whats the differ vetween this and the amd athlon mobile XP 2400+ at 1.8 ghz??

i dont wanna buy another 1.8 and have the same performance, the 2200 is overheating like a motherfreaker, i bought another fan and still burned up, plus it caused my mobo to short out and wont be able to function properly.

do you guys like this mobo, i got it cuz its cheaperhttp://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-162&depa=1

what do you guys think??

im surfing at the moment with 800Mhz Duron, 128Mg memory and pretty damn fast internet connection and all is good. surfing is fast and dl'ing is quick. (naturally no gaming with this machina)

save some money and go to a 2nd hand puter store.

my point being that not very clever to buy an expensive cutting edge gaming technology for only surfing and dl'ing.
