I'm looking to buy a budget laptop to use while I'm at school or if I just wanna go outdoors and sit on the patio or somethin and do some work. I'll also probably watch DVD's and burn CD's on it. I already have a desktop which I'm on now. It's a Athon 2700 XP+, 1GB DDR Ram, Dual Layer DVD Burner, 40GB and 80GB WD 8mb hard drives. I love it. It does everything that I need to it to do. On the laptop I'll need atleast: 512mb ram, 1.5ghz cpu, 40GB hard drive (more would be great), CD-RW/DVD Drive. I only have about $900 to spend on it. No more than that.

I bought mine from Dell. They have a couple to choose from for under $900.

You might also want to check your local electronics store, Best Buy, CompUSA... whatever, they sometimes have closeout deals and open items.

Man, there has been a rash of "Buying a laptop" threads lately...

Look through this forum and you'll find several with links posted.

But here is the main one I'd look at:

You'll find what you want and will fit your budget.
