Never owned a sokcet 939 with athlon 64 but I know a few friends of mine at my church own uses them.
Got to test his machine out for a little while, on average I would say it was almost like a medium class P4 HT, it lacked a little bit with gaming, but I guess that was his video card he had in there.

Must be. The Athlons and Athlon 64s pwned Intel in gaming, pure and simple. the naming scheme AMD used (2000+ >= P4 2.0, 3200+ >= P4 3.2) was a rough comparison of procesing power, but AMD shown in gaming especially.
