Yah the 2.8 is nice and fast and its the prescott which gets hot so i reccomend getting the northwood version. But to give you an example dell is charging 480 bucks for that pentium 4 2.8 ghz which you can buy at www.newegg.com for 166 bucks. Hmm would i rather buy one prebuilt or... Build my own for a lot cheaper. I tell you what heres everything you would need to build Your own.
intel p4 2.8 ghz $166
enermax case with 350watt psu $66
artec cd burner $35
Sony floppy drive $12
Western Digital 40gb hard drive $53
Standard keyboard $5.50
Optical mouse $14
ASus motherboard $102
Kingston 512mb pc3200 $95
Ati 9600se 128 mb video card $95

This is probably what your dell you were building looked like......Hmm thats odd i bet $655 is alot less then what your dell is at right now. Also the quality and performance of these is 5x what dell is using.

SOny vaio 2.66 ht ghz modded into raidmax case with green cold cathodes.
P4 2.8ghz HT, 512mb ddr, Intel KD865gbfl, onboard video, raidmax case, blue cathodes, round ide, loomed wires, 4x dvd burner, wd sata 80gb hard drive

simply dont buy a dell. i would recomend getin a amd xp because of the price and how to perfomance is the same. plus my gf got a dell (be4 i knew her) and it didnt have a agp slot so she had to buy a pci fx5200 instead of her intel extreme grahpics controller onboard crap. if uve neva build be4 simply put it where it fits its that easy

AMD x2 5000+ black edition at 3.3GHZ zalman cnps 9700-NT
