Default What processor to get w/ 1GB Memory, 128MB DDR, 256 bit Video Card?

Say if one were to have: 1GB Memory, 200 GB HardDrive, and 128MB DDR, 256 bit Video Card; what processor would best for the one who: surfs the web, burns CD/DVD's, uses programs like Encarta etc., and plays video games?

What would be the best processor for quality and reliability?

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ w/ 64 bit Processor
Frequency - 2 GHz
FSB - Intergrated into Chip
Cache - L1 / 64+64K
Cache - L2 / 512K
price: $223

I hear everyone raving about the Athlon 64. I hear its the best for gaming. My question is, would the Athlon 64 make any difference if it was used with a 128MB DDR, 256 bit Video Card compared to a Intel P4 @ 2.8 GHz 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2. Would there be any noticable difference between the two for gaming.

Intel Pentium 4 w/ Hyper Threading (Northwood)
Frequency - 2.8C GHz
FSB - 800MHz
Cache - L1 / 12K+8K
Cache - L2 / 512K
price: $178

The P4 is cheaper than the Athlon 64, is it faster?

Intel Pentium 4 w/ Hyper Threading (Prescott)
Frequency - 2.8E GHz
FSB - 800MHz
Cache - L1 / 12K+16K
Cache - L2 / 1MB
price: $179

Is the Prescott 1MB L2 better or faster than the Northwood 512K L2?

These are the few questions I ask my self about the CPU's listed. Anyone hear have a straight foward answer on which would be best in my case. To be honest, I have no clue.

Thanks!

Go with AMD, it is the gamer's processor, plus, you'll be ready for 64-bit apps when they finally hit stores.

By speed. But by gaming performance, that is a different question, not to mention that it also have 64-bit capabilities.
