Unlike a regular PSU, a modular one gives you the option of only using the cables that you want to use. The benefit is an overall neater power supply cable management. You won't have to have loose or unused cables hanging around when you're not using them.

The only problems that sometimes arise with modular PSUs is that the cords provided will either be too long or too short.

^Thats a problem with every power supply regardless of weather its modular or not.
Its a case/mobo issue more than a pau issue.

I've seen wire length issues occur much more with modular PSUs than with cabled ones personally though.
