my logitech cordless freedom keyboard works without the reciever being hooked up via PS/2, but only via the USB port for the mouse. this is incredibly weird, since before I connected my wireless mouse to my old computer and my wireless keyboard, which uses the same reciever, to my new computer, so that I beneficed from the wireless keyboard. but now I've learned that I can use my keyboard without it being conncted direcly?!?!?
