We all use the term mhz in reference to OCing a CPU or a GPU, but what exactly does that mean? I mean, to go from 500mhz to 520mhz, what exactly does this do, technically? I know it makes it faster, but internally what is happening with the component?

megahertz, it's in reference to basically the signal going through it per second......just go to www.dictionary.com it'll give you a better answer on things like this.

"A unit of frequency equal to one cycle per second"

megahertz would be 100 cycles per second, giga would be 1,000

EDIT: Wow I was way off, megahertz = 1,000,000 lol and gigahertz = 1 billion per second
