It looks like a good combo, but my question to you is why do you want that kind of setup? Do you play games or anything that truly requires a 64 bit processor?

i didnt see a reason not to go for the 64bit i want it to last a while and that seems to be the best way to do so. do u not agree? what are some down sides to the 64? and xp?

There are virtually no down sides to getting a 64 bit at this time except that practically no software utilizes their performance abilities. This will change in the short future, and you can prepare for that at any time. By all means, get the motherboard and processor. It will be around for a while and it is probably your best solution.

The downside to the AMD-64 is the fact that AMD-32s are so much cheaper. It'd be a lot cheaper getting a system with similar performance now with socket A. I recently made a box for £121 (no O/S, no moniter), Athlon 2400+, onboard sound, crap video, 256mb RAM, etc, etc, but 121 UK pounds ($200?)? I've spent that on a night out .
