what is the best for yor monitor?

I was wondering what the best practice is for powering your monitor. Should you shut it off when you are done at the computer or do you set you power mode and leave the monitor on at all times? I always leave my towers on, but I am not sure what to do with the monitor. Isn't it harder on the monitor to turn it off/on often?

My monitor is set to go into stand-by after 20 minutes of non-usage. The monitor uses up a lot of power which depending on your cash situation can lead to higher electric bills. Today's monitors can be left on for extended periods of time. Just change the power settings under properties and you can leave everything on. Hope this isn't rambling or confusing.
