Default What are the benifits of...

going with AMD 64?

I am building a new computer, but I still cant decide which CPU to go with.
At newegg for about the same price, there is a AMD 64 3000+ with 512 cache and there is a 2.8 GHz P4 LGA with 1mb of cache.

Intel also makes PCI Express slots which is a great plus because I am thinking about a 128 mb 6600 GT.

I need opinions because I can be swayed either way.
