Western Digital or Maxtor?

Personaly I prefer Western Digital. I have used both and have had way too many Maxtors literally blow up on me.

Plus, the Western Digitals (new line) are very quite.

I favor Western Digital Hard Disks over other brands. Their documentation and online help is outstanding. I have installed maybe eight or ten WD disks over the years in my PC's. They are reliable and that is my reason for installing them.

The Merlin,

Not sure about the model, it's on the front page of the Fry's ad. It is:

120 GB
ultra DMA/100
7200 RPM
8.9ms Seek Time
8 MB buffer

That's all the info I have. There's a $30 mail in rebate that knocks it down to $50.

Thoughts??

i don't know about dma but i would go with SATA or serial ATA ( same thing just some places call them diff). you can only use SATA if you have conectors for it, i think that is a great deal though. i'm gonna buy a 37 wd raptor for my new computer, i say go with wd, my dad has one and a maxtor and i think the wd is quiter, the maxtor is the slave though i think.

what ever is close to the raptor 37, i don't know exact numbers but it's close.
