Default Waiting for power supply...

I recently upgraded my system's video card, which was just delivered to me today. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that I needed a better power supply for said video card. So now I've ordered a power supply for my video card and now I must wait, yet again.

My question is; would it be safe to run games on my computer on low graphic settings until my power supply arrives? Or will my video card hog up too much power regardless of ingame settings? I'm just trying not to cause any damage to my computer in the mean time.
