I just found myself in the same situation... all of my .exe files were infected with this virus.

I downloaded the JEEFOGUI tool from:
http://www.sophos.com/support/disinfection/jeefoa.html
and it deleted the svchost.exe file and cleaned my .exe files. I this then uncovered yet another virus, and has been taken care of by my Norton Anti-Virus.

Not sure why the JEEFOGUI didn't fix your problems. Try this again. Maybe you have more wrong with this then you thought.... and then again, looking at the last post date.. you could have bought a new computer by now.

Are you using your XP CD to repair or reformat? If you are repairing the OS, you are not formatting the disk.
