Video card probs???

I have a GeForce 2 mx/mx400 video card in a athlon 1700 xp running windoes xp home, with a new KDS VS-190is 19 inch monitor. For some reason every since I added new monitor, I cant run high ress, well anything over 800x600 & no 3d accel. when I do it locks up.Do I need a new video card? Is mine not capable of handeling high ress 19 inch?Can anyone help me out with this problem??? I have updated all my drivers, even checked my video card, looks good & says its working properly.

well fella check the specs for your geforce, do it support you resoluttion? if you dont know go to the nvidia website and find out, also check the setting for the monitor in you video card, righ click the desktop and click properties/ advance, change the resolution for the one that your monitor support.
