video card advice?

I don't really use my computer for too much gaming or video editing, but I don't want a card that will limit me from doing either for those things ever.

Right now I have a GeForce4 MX420.

Does the video card have much effect on my computer's performance? And how much?

working on windows you will not notice any differance between a Geforce4 MX or geforce6 GT they both are anough to show the start menue animation.
but if you want to enter the gaming world your card will cause you
a lot of trouble and will limit you from playing the most or newer games so .... your choice.
