Hi forums!
I have a question, i have a P4, 3.0GHZ 1GB Ram,
I have a shitty Geforce 5200FX atm, and i want a new card
i was told the ATI Radeon 9800 PRO (256MB) Was a great choice, at 156$ i want it for BF2 on good settings with AA, CS:Source, and some others...so opinions& facts please :D

Get a 6600 GT. It is cheaper than the 9800 Pro and blows it to pieces. The 9800 Pro is old news now, much like getting an old GeForce4 Ti 4800 or whatever for gaming. Like I said, get a 6600 GT.

9800Pro is probably too old as he said. I got my 9700Pro shortly before the 9800 was released and that was at least two years ago if not longer. You'll be better off with a newer design. Nvidia or ATI depends on your preference.

Heyyo,

Well, with AA and AF on and all that? you'd need top-end man. Now think people, if his current vidcard's only an FX5200, getting a vidcard like a 6600GT will be good but the rest of his computer will be the bottleneck.

Give us full specs on your comp pls, cpu, amount of ram, if your mobo has at least an agp slot.

So yes, I say we do a small halt on vidcard reccomendations ti'll we get this sorted out. And there's no way the 6600GT is cheaper than an 9800 Pro. I saw a 6600GT for $272.19 and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro for $175.56.. You'd literally have to steal the 6600GT from your comp shop for it to be cheaper. :p

I dunno, I say if his current setup is only an FX5200, I think anything above a 9600 Pro wouldn't do too much.. we'll see what kindof specs we're dealing with.

P4, 3.0GHZ 1GB Ram,

He posted that in his first post. I would still like more complete stats but base on that he should have no problem getting the most out of 6600GT. The geforce 6600GT is only slightly more expensive then the 9800pro if you look in the right places. I would say the geforce 6600GT a good choise.

The 9800 Pro is old news now, much like getting an old GeForce4 Ti 4800

WO would not go that far. The TI 4800 far older then a 9800pro. Getting a 9800pro would be like getting a geforce fx 5900. That would be a fair comparison.

Don't waste your money on a 9800 pro, especially if you want to play BF2 with AA and high settings. The price difference between the 9800 pro and 6600gt is minimal compared to the performance your going to get out of the 6600gt compared to the 9800 pro. I would recommend nothing lower than the 6600GT, it's a great card for the price (and the prices have dropped over the past 2 months). If you want to make sure that you can play your games on the highest setting and AA on go with a 6800gt/ultra.
