Video card

Just got a dell and installed my vid card (nvidia 64 mb something) and when I got to the XP screen there were two variations here they are:
1) came to a screen where it said please wait........ then froze
2) would go to the screen would work fine...but there was no task bar with the start b utton

I think I installed the wrong drivers but I just cant get it to work

How do I disable the onboard graphics?

well, are you on laptop, and r u on LCD monitor or CRT?

if ur task bar isnt coming, then it means that the VGA card is forcing the resolution to be more than the required.

check by right clicking on the desktop (even if u dont have taskbar)

and then click properties > advanced, and lower down the resolution.

see if it shows up. have u newely installed the windows?

and as well see if u didnt accidently lowered down the taskbar as if its unlocked at that time.

It was the onboard

For future reference the onboard has to be disabled before installing a new vid card it appears because Dell comps arnt automatic in their shutting down if them
