Verifying DPI Data Pool

I have a hardware problem that has me stumped.

I have an gigabyte MB with an AMD CPU, 512 MB Ram, IDE drive.

I have changed out the MB, Memory and HD and get the same result: It hangs after the Verifying DMI Pool.

I have got it to boot to the CDROM by making it master and not connecting the HD, however every time I connect the HD it hangs. I have replaced the HD and get the same result.

HELP?!?!?!?

what do u mean it hangs it stays there forever or just takes a while?

It never goes past that point, ever.......

Replace your IDE cables, one is more than likely damaged.

I have switched between 3 cables and nothing changes

what OS do you have on the hard drive(s)?
and does it hang at POST, or when it loads the OS?

The problem was a bad CPU. I replaced the CPU and all is good.
