I have a Vaio that has been on the shelf for a year or so due to a video problem which occured shortly after the warranty expired. I sent it to Sony for repair and they responded with a $800 repair order to replace the "monitor".
The LCD monitor lights up but has vertical lines and no readible display. The lines change when the background changes. Is this an indication that the monitor "is OK"?
I recently connected a tube monitor to this laptop and have a very good quality high res display. This would tell me that the video circuitry is probably OK.
I'd really like to have this unit fully functional as a portable. Anyone have any thoughts as to repairable/replaceable components for these units?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
