Ok so my new LCD appears to have the same port in it that my monitor does and so I tried to use it. I just plugged the cable which connects the GPU to the monitor(yeah I'm illiterate, no idea what it is...) into the tv, but none of the channels worked as a monitor. Where the port is on the tv it has EXT 4 next to it, suggesting switching to EXT 4 should work, just like how the component cables connecting my 360 to my tv are EXT 5 so thats the xbox channel.

Is it because I lack a driver?

Drivers should not be an issue.

You need to switch to the appropriate source input on your tv. On mine when connecting a computer the input is computer. could also be vga depending upon your tv.

Your gpu should change the resolution when it connects to the tv but you could try to switch it the the native resolution of the tv. Check your manual. (1080p tvs are usually 1920x1080)
