Default Using headphones as Mics

I have a laptop and I've tried to use two different headphones as mics. I'm 100% sure i'm in the right plug. What do I need to do to make it work?

well, the headphone should have a small stick with a microphone, and your laptop should have a pink plug

umm I think you read it wrong. I heard you can use headphones as microhpones. It isn't working for me. Do you need mp3 headphones for this?

you need a hedphones with attached microphone, you can't use any headphone as a mic
