USB to HDMI vs other ports

I have a Sony Bravia LCD T.V. I want to connect it to my laptop. Would there be a benefit of using a VGA to HDMI opposed to using a USB to HDMI?

Do you want to have your audio come from the laptop or the TV?

Then I would suggest a USB connection. they make adapter either way that will let you stream audio over USB/VGA, but neither will do it automatically like true HDMI will. There is the off change depending on the sound drivers/program, that the audio might go thru with USB.
