i have a 256mb data stick that i use to move ict work to and from school, but the other day it broke. it suddenly did not show up in my computer, but when i open the safley remove hardware dialog box from the system tray, it was present, and when i opened the hardware properties in device manager, it said there were no problems. i opened the computer management utility from the administrators tools, and opened the disk management utility. it said the drive was present, but that it was un-specified. i right clicked, chose format as FAT32, and it then worked fine for 1 day. it has now broken again, and is not listed in disk management either, but is still mentioned in the safely remove hardware box, and in device manager. i am a bit stuck as i need it for school...:(

FAT32 is for hard drives... theres a special format for USB drives I think. Try to format it again with the software the stick came with, or just use the software to find it.
