That would be MSI Neo4 SLi or Ultra? I think I like the look of the MSI Neo4, not really understanding what its all about of course http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...ocket_939.html .

It would be good value for money in terms of what it would offer now and in a few years time compared to some of the cheaper ones?

Go for the Ultra its cheaper and can also do SLI but its 5% to 10% less performance than the proper MSI Neo4 SLI.

If you don't plan on going the SLI route I would stick to nforce 3 chipset boards and spend the savings on upgrading something else...like the CPU or more/better ram, since you will be using cpu/mem intensive video apps.

Is there anything I should be looking for in a nforce 3 board, or even a bundle if there are savings to be had? There are quite a few to choose from and prices vary quite a bit

Stick with the nForce 4 boards they are faster and will last you longer.
As for a 6600GT try get this one
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/wi...extreme_1.html

Its one of the best 6600GT's around.

Ok so thats

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (CP-097-AM) (Socket 939) £129.95

Mobo - MSI Neo4 Ultra (mobo means botherboard, right?)

VC - 6600GT (WinFast PX6600 GT TDH Extreme)

Which just leaves me, I think, RAM, Hard drive and PSU, and I'm sure I can figure out a psu, but what am I looking for in RAM and hard drive?

PCFormat did a test on budget drives, a 200gigabyte drive for about £75 won that I think.
