Default Update

I’m going to update my computer and would like your input.

The system I am using I know very little about a part from:

40GB Hard Drive
256MB Ram
XP Pro
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.6GHz
I don’t know what my motherboard is but it only has 2 slots where you plug hard and cd drives into (might be PCI not even remotely sure)

What all could I do to make this a better all-round computer? I use it for surfin the net, downloading music/video – mostly from Kazaa, playing games and work – Word, Excel PowerPoint.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks

well if you can plug in hard drive and a cdrom it can't be pci. when you look at your mobo is it to the left or right??

not sure myself. you'll need a better graphics card, more memory.

well IMHO, i think that instead of trying to update, it would be better for u to get a new one. It would be cheaper too. In this case. U can build a good gamer for like 700-800. And if u got a grand to spend u can have an ultimate kick *** computer. That is if ur b uilding.

I think :cyclopes: that you need a new mobo to start things off on a good foot. I would go with a gigabyte mobo becasue they have real good products for real good prices. Then i would upgrade my graphics then i would get a 3200 stick of 512 ram then youd be all set
