i think i can add my experience.
well if RAID is way you are going then make sure its the hardware raid as supported by your motherboard. software raid the one xp pro provides is risky. i implemented it and it caused me a lot of problems like
pc hangs up while accessinng my computer. boot failures.
although after sometime i came over with boot failure but My Computer hang up still bugs me.
in theory raid is great . i guess u know it has 2 forms :
mirrored : same stuff copied in two drives. useful for back up
striped: interlocked data transfer some here some there. for improved performance. but has risk of data loss.
i guess i repeated some stuff in my words. hope that helps u understand better.
