Default Turing XP Home into a Media Centre

I have a laptop with Windows XP Home.

The laptop has built in IrDA which I would like to use with a remote control to use my laptop as a media cetre (so I can control programs such as WMP using the remote).

I used to have a Pocket PC, and i had a piece of software which allowed the PC to learn the different signals from my TV, VCR, DVD etc remote controls, so I could just use my PPC to control my TV etc, and no longer needed the seperate remote controls.

I want a similar piece of software, which will learn the signals from a remote control via IrDA (the remote is actually from a TV card i have for my desktop, and is only credit card size), and allow me to control programmes such as Windows Media Player.

Does anyone have any suggestions, as I have looked on the net, and cannot find what I want, which is unusual, as there is a piece of software out there to do virtually anything.

THank you for your help in advance!!!
