Ok, I did a post this morning about IrDA and remote controls, and I feel I may have gone too complex in what I was asking.

I've found a couple of pieces of software which will allow me to control Windows Media Player with a remote control, but I need help with the basics first.

Does anyone know of any software that will allow a remote to communicate with a laptop via a built in IrDA on an Intel Chipset?

It is an Intel 915PM Express Chipset, and the remote is one supplied with a 'PC Line TV' card.

And before anyone says 'buy a remote and receiver kit', I dont wanna do that cause I wanna keep it compact, as the remote I have is the size of a credit card and the IrDA of course, is built into the laptop.

Please help me people, show me how clever you all are, lol!!

Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

yea that tv card control will only help u with the card its self but this is a good question u might look into windows media edition
