ok, maybe I wasn't really clear,

I am looking for something that gets plugged into a USB port (I think) and in order for you to access anything, you put your thumb on a little reader (maybe the size of a CC) and then you have access. I just can't remember what its called or where to get it. any clues?

Circuit City carries one, its made by APC. I'm not sure if it's able to be used for Desktops, though.

There is one..

Cheap too.. Lemme find it for you.

Don't let the cheap price fool you. After all, the scanner is only as good as the software.. And Microsoft has enough programmers lying about to make some programs

ms make a keyboard with one in it.
edit: if your interested just in security you can buy a usb "id tag". its a little beacon that you carry and it has a reciever that plugs into the usb port, if you move more than 2m away it locks the computer and will unlock when you are within range again
