testing componets

If I have a working system can I use it to test hard drives or CD drives and CPUs, Stuff like that? I have a couple of PCs that don't work and can get another PC that works. I don't want to try things on our new one and wreck something, Besides wife would kill me, LOL. TomW

Sure as long as the power supply and motherboard are working test all you like. Of course it would be a good idea to be safe to be able to prolong the testing ability.
