Switch/hub/router

I am looking to buy a new switch,hub or router but have no ideal what to look for. The only thing I will using it for, will be hooking 8 xbox's together. So I dont want anything above 8 ports. Any suggestions on what to get get? Thanks.

For your purposes either a switch or a hub would be all you need. Switch's are faster than hubs as they allow for simultaneous communication. A router would also work, but they contain functionality you do not need so depending on prices you would be paying for features you wouldn't be using.

I was looking at the linksys 8 port gigabit switch. Would this allow for the best connection for the cheapest price?

What is the price? You should be able to get something for less than $50, maybe even like $30 to $40. Gigabit isn't necessary so you might be able to save some money going with a 100mb version.

I have a 8 port linksys 100mb switch right now and Im not satisfied with it so I want to upgrade. The liksys 8 port gigabit switch was around 80. I think I am going to buy the net gear gs608.
