Default Surround sound problems

Hey. I have recently purchased a 5.1 Surround sound system (Logitech Z640) and a Creative Audigy LS sound card. The sound is awesome but i was playing farcry today and had a bit of a problem. For no noticeable reason the surround speakers just started squealing extremelly loud. I pushed the power button on the center speaker, and when i turned it back on the screeching had stopped and only the centre speaker was working. I turned the game off and put winamp on. the song started playing but then about 10 seconds into it the same thing happened!! I did the same thing and again only the center speaker worked. I closed winamped, opened it and the same thign happened. I reset and now winamp seems to work fine. The same thing happens in far cry, however.

Any help or experience with a matter like this would be really helpful at this point.
