strange restart problem

Im havin abit of a problem with my mates pc. It works fine until i come to shut it down, It goes all the way then for sumreason starts straight back up by instelf ive tried reinstalling windows and ive looked in the bios but i cant find any option selected for it to do this. The pc is a elonex P4 1.7 with 256mb. Only posiblity is that its had some water damage, but i dont know.

Sounds like a PSU problem for me. Do you know what kind he has?

thanks for the quick reply dhw but ive tried everything diferent in the machine apart from different cpu and motherboard and they are the only ones compatiable with each other that ive got, so guess im abit screwed

what do you use for antivirus/spyware?

avg for antivirus and zone alarm firewall. they are all upto date aswel, ive never heard of a virus doing this kinda thing :s

plus it does the same wen the hard drive is unplugged :s
