stiffy drive problems

I have a normal stiffy drive 1.44mb 3.5". The problem is that I have these stiffy disks that are made for this drive but on the disk it says high density not double density like the current stiffy disks that you can buy in the store. I need to know how to read these stiffy disks. When I put these high density disks in the error I get is "This disk has not been properly formatted". If You can help me I'll be impressed no one has solution.

i dont know anything about the term 'stiffy'.

but did you already try right clicking the drive with this disk in, and going to "Format".?

I can't format the disk then i will lose the info
