Default SpeedFan?

I was looking for a universal tool to monitor temperature and fan speeds and I came across SpeedFan. I'm not sure if this software is safe to download or use. Has anyone used this or does anyone know if it's safe at all?

Yes, it is safe. I do not think it has been updated in quite a while so, it does not control fans on most motherboards.

Thanks. I'll test it to see if it's what I'm looking for, if not, oh well.

Also consider coretemp or HW monitor.
