My IBM thinkpad harddrive is acting up, and I need to replace it. Can I get any old 2.5 in laptop drive, or will it have to be the exact model?

Thanks

You should be able to but first find out what the maximum size of hard drive your laptop will recognise is, so you don't but a drive thats too big.
Also, make sure your old drive doesn't have a hidden system partition on it, if it does you will need to recreate this on the new drive. IBM should provide a utility on their website for doing this.
