Question Socket 754

K a while back..i think about 2 months ago...i herd that socket 754 cpu would become obsolete or something...is this true? would you recomend buying one?

Socket 754 wouldn't be obsolete. It's just that AMD might not continue with the Athlon 64 for s754 after 3700+, however. Athlon XP and Sempron will go on in Socket 754.

so if they dont continue 754...then would the 940 be good? well i no it would be good...but the only CPU ive seen for that socket is over $1000 canadian...that owuld blow my buget

New future sockets will be on the 939 for awhile anyway

Socket 939 cheapest is the 3500+ at around $500 canadian.

ya the 940 is a rip cuz of ram, the 754 cant run dual channel tho (even tho the mobos do) so keep that in kind. I would go for a 939 hehe. save up and get 1.

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...tegory_cpu.asp is where i look for most of my stuff..its the only candian site i no...and i think NCIX.com... at that link they have no 939 sockets... =(
