SLI 6600 GT's or Radeon x800's???

im thinking of getting new vid cards over the summer and my budget for the vid cards is about 400-500 bucks, so i think i could get either a pair of 6600gt's sli'd or a X800 Xt or something... which is REALLY better? i don t want a pro-nivida guy pushing me towards sli while ATi freak pushing toward X850's

SLI doesnt offer enough of an advantage in most games. I would go with x800

X850 owns all NVIDIA cards. That is a fact.

The X850 is VERY expensive. You will get more for your money with the 6800 GT or something. Stay away from SLI. It is too early.

Go with the X800 XT.

FYI: The 6800GT can be overclocked (or softmodded) to a 6800 Ultra.

The 6800GT performs just as well as the X800 XT with AA and AF off, 1024x768 with minimum eye candy. The X800 XT outperforms the 6800GT when AA and AF are maxed out, 1024x768 or higher and ALL eye candy enabled.

personally I think the X800 XT's are too high priced against the 6800 GT's to be worth it. the 6800 GT's outperform the X800 XT's in some cases also, but X800 XT's do win most of the time

6800 Ultra's cost about as much as X800 XT's, and are probabbly a better card all round. the X800 XT performs better in HL2 but not by a lot.

the X850 XT is a better card than the X800's and 6800's, but doesn't have smart shader 3.0 and is really expensive. go for the X850 XT if you have a lot of money to burn, but go for the 6800 GT if you want better value
