It shows up 128 MB in the BIOS and also in CPUZ

I just removed a 128 MB memory chip in my laptop, and installed a 256 MB . It shows up 128 MB in the BIOS and also in CPUZ. What coul be the problem? Its new ram from Crucial and its labled 256 MB which is what I bought.

Are you sure that your laptop accepts 256 MB RAM? Olders ones don't. If you went through Crucial's memory selector though, it should be compatible.
