Question Shader Model

I've been looking all arround on websites for pics of Far cry with Shader Model on and off, and comparing them. there seems to be a drastic difference. I was just wondering if when people say that only Nvidia cards have SM3.0, do ATI cards have SM1 or 2? Because there seems to be a major difference between MS3.0 and no MS at all.

Intel P4 3.2GHz Prescott @ 3.8GHz
Asus P5GD2 Premium Motherboard
