My dad has already asked me if newegg had affiliate programs, but I have yet to look into it. However of course that wouldn't quite be the same as going directly to the manufacturer themselves like newegg does

One could assume that if Maxtor is becoming part of Seagate, Maxtor drive reliablity will go up.

Spinpoint are made by Samsung.
As far as I know all IBM Deskstars are actually Hitachi disks.
