I need help with an HP Scanjet 5300c , the computer recognizes the scanner, but the software (A.K.A. HP precision scan) doesnt recognize the scanner, i am running a compaq on win2000. Any ideas, i already dl'd the drivers from the hp site, i need help.

Updating drivers before uninstalling the old ones causes problems sometimes.


Unplug the scanner from the cpu, go into your device manager, find the scanner, uninstall the drivers, delete the device from the device manager, reboot. Plug in your scanner again and reload the drivers off the CD or the newer ones you downloaded.

yeap drivers are a ***** sometimes. they always mess up when u have older stuff and u dont follow the directions. I.E. uninstall old drivers FIRST.
