sCANNER AND SP2

I installed service pack 2 for Windows XP and it stopped my Epson Perfection 1240U Scanner from working.
When I plug the USB into the computer "The Found New Hardware" does not show in the bottom right hand corner.
The USB sockets are working correctly and the scanner is working correctly on my friends computer.
Please Help.
