sb live 5.1 problems

my friend recently went out a bought a new 5:1 speaker set, and a sb live 5.1 because his speakers were shot. so he instaled trhe card and the drivers and hked up the speakers right. But the problem is that he gets no sound and we can not figure it out.


any ideas?

he is running:
amd 800
256 pc133 dimm
winXP pro

my friends father had someone over looking at his computer the other day after all thes problems, and my friend got this guy to look at the card. The guy took out the card and read the serial number and get this:
it turns out that the guy bought the exact same card from the saems tore two days earlier and found it to be defective, and brought it back, so the store must of resealed the damn broken card and then sold it to my friend. needless to say my friend brought it back and got a refund and went somewhere else and bought it!
