Okay, I am confused about this subject, according to EVEREST my HDD interface is about average of 170 or so MB/s, so why would my Drive which is SATA2 3.0GB/s and my motherboard which is also rated at SATA2 3.0GB/s not be running at that speed? Is there a jumper I need to set or something?

No, 3GB/s is the MAXIMUM Speed, in actuality it won't ever transfer that fast.

Its the same thing as internet connections and almost every other type of connection, manufactures or sellers usally list the MAXIMUM through put when in reality you almost never reach that speed.

Ah, so is around 150-170 MB/s about right for SATA2, or would it be slowed down from the processor or something of that kind?

So then it is just something there to be flashy telling you IF you could get to those speeds it would be max?

Yea, for harddrives the main reason why its not up to that speed yet is because of the read/write head, Data can only be transfered as fast as the head can read or write it.

Hope that makes since.
