SATA: Which Should I Get: Seagate Or Western Digital

Which is better? Is Seagate as reliable as Western Digital?

Seagates are pretty fast and quiet, I dont know about Western Digital though.

Seagates normally get f__ked up after about 18 months.
And to make matters worse they offer only 1yr warranty.
Here in India, we prefer Samsung.

Btw, my HDD is the second one.
Well I bought the first one when they USED to offer 3yr warranty.
Yeah, I got the replacement.

I have a 30gb seagate that has been used, almost abused for 4 almost 4 years (i think...)

I completely trust Seagate.

Most things either break within the first month or last you a while.

I agree completely. Usually computer parts dont really have any performance curve or wear down that much, especially hard drives.
I have a few 400mb drives that still work great.

They have 3 year warranties also....

I have never gone wrong with western digitals. I have about 5 or 6 of them now. Never a problem. ALso i know my shop has maxtors in its p.o.s. computers that run 24/7 and never have had problems either even with like no circulation of air and like constanly running hot because of dust. But i say go wd
